What is Holism?

Coined by Jan Smuts, the word holism applies to a way of thinking that recognises the interconnectedness and interdependence of all things. In a veterinary context, it indicates the approach to a patient that views the body (i.e. the collection of organs and tissues) as being greater than the sum of its parts, that each part acts upon every other part and upon the whole and that each is in turn acted upon by every other part and by the whole. No individual part can be considered separately. It also considers the body in the context of diet, lifestyle and environment and the part that each of these factors plays in health and disease.

Services:

We offer homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal medicine, chiropractic manipulation, natural feeding advice, aromatherapy, tissue salts, bach flowers, magnet therapy, LASER therapy, ultrasound therapy etc., for all species of animals, including horses, ponies, dogs, cats, goats, donkeys, sheep, cattle, pigs, llamas, alpacas, buffalo, reindeer, ferrets, rabbits, reptiles, poultry, raptors and birds  of all types.

The Practice Principal is: Christopher Day (Chris Day), holistic vet, homeopathic vet and acupuncture vet of 35 years experience.

We commonly treat such ailments as:
CDRM (C.D.R.M.), Epilepsy, Arthritis, Colitis, Spondylosis, Hip Dysplasia, OCD, DJD, Cancer, Disc Disease, Cushings Syndrome, Back Problems, Lameness, Skin Disease, Eczema, Allergic Dermatitis, Atopy, Sweet Itch, Laminitis, COPD (C.O.P.D.), Navicular Syndrome, Periodic Ophthalmia (Moonblindness, Moon Blindness, Recurrent Ophthalmia or Recurrent Uveitis), Head Shaking (Head-Shaking, Headshaking), Wobbler Syndrome, Sarcoid, Diarrhoea, Vomiting, Liver Disease (Hepatopathy), Jaundice, Lymphangitis, Incontinence, False Pregnancy, Infertility, Corneal Ulcer, New Forest Eye, Mastitis etc.

In all cases, the principle used is to enable and facilitate the body's own extraordinary healing powers, to achieve the result. Despite the fact that the case load of the AVMC is mostly animals that have failed to find help through the conventional approach, in all manner of very refractory disease, we witness an encouragingly large percentage of positive outcomes.
